Chesterfield, County, VA – Sprinkler system extinguishes stove top fire at apartment complex; No injuries reported

A fire that took place in Chesterfield on Sunday night caused an apartment building to be evacuated and one person to be displaced.

According to Chesterfield Fire and EMS, they received a call at 7:54 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17 about a fire at an apartment building in the 300 block of Karl Linn Drive.

The first units were on scene within five minutes. It was determined that a stove top fire happened within a single apartment on the first floor, and the fire did not spread outside the apartment.

The fire was extinguished by an automatic sprinkler and there were no reported injuries. The person who lived in the apartment has been displaced.

All others in the building that were evacuated temporarily will be able to stay in the apartments unaffected.

This is the second stove fire that has happened at this apartment building within the past two months, the other happening back in September.

Stuart, FL – Sprinkler system activated for fire at manufacturing facility

The State Marshal is investigating after a business caught fire in Martin County Saturday night.

Martin County Fire Rescue responded to a fire alarm going off at Paradigm Precision on SE Commerce Ave. in Stuart shortly after 7:30 p.m.

Five stations aided at the scene after the first crews that arrived noticed a smell of light smoke.

Inside the building, they discovered a small fire near a table.

Fire rescue reports the sprinkler system was a critical aid in keeping the tableside fire in check.

They also praise the working fire alarm and sprinkler system as “critical in reducing damage in this incident.”

Lehigh Acres, FL – Sprinkler system extinguishes fire at church

The Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District responded to a fire at Victory Church in Lehigh Acres early Thursday morning.

Crews responded to the scene on Taylor Lane around 3:55 a.m.

Once crews arrived, they said the building’s sprinkler system had extinguished the fire in the sanctuary.

Firefighters said there is smoke damage throughout the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The state’s Bureau of Fire, Arson and Explosives is assisting in the investigation.

The church staff is working to notify families that their daycare and school will be closed on Thursday.

McPherson, KS – Sprinkler system activated for forklift fire

On Thursday, a firefighter was injured while working a building fire in McPherson.

According to the McPherson Fire Department, crews were dispatched to an automatic fire alarm at a building in the 1000 block of W. Kansas Ave. around 4 p.m.

Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from the building. Firefighters entered the building and found heavy smoke conditions and a forklift with its engine compartment on fire.

The sprinkler system was able to contain the fire to the forklift.

Crews continued to search the building for fire. During the search, two firefighters fell into a partially uncovered pit used for automotive repairs. One of the firefighters was transported via EMS to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for a lower leg injury. They were treated and released, but they will need follow-up care.

The fire was extinguished, and the smoke was cleared from the building.

The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office assisted with the fire investigation.

Silver Spring, MD – Sprinkler system activated for fire at car dealership; No injuries reported

A fire broke out at the DARCARS Toyota and Lexus Dealership in Silver Spring on Nov. 12, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) Chief Public Information Officer Pete Piringer.

MCFRS firefighters responded to a call around 4 a.m. about a fire on the 12000 block on Cherry Hill Road near Prosperity Drive. Firefighters located the fire on the DARCARS service department’s second floor, according to Piringer’s X post.

Piringer said the automatic fire alarm and sprinkler system were activated and no injuries were reported.

A computer electronic component mounted on the wall in the service bay is the probable cause of the electric fire, according to Piringer.

The damages were estimated at $20,000.

Half Moon Bay, CA – Sprinkler system contains fire at beach house; No injuries reported

Automatic alarm systems at the luxury hotel alerted fire personnel around 5:30 a.m. to a structure fire spreading on the first floor. Six fire crews responded to the scene and evacuated about 30 guests and hotel employees from the premises.

The first responders to the fire found that the automatic sprinkler system at the hotel had contained most of the blaze.

The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation. Battalion Chief Clayton Jolley said the fire was likely triggered by the water heater in the laundry room and then spread to other combustibles such as linens and baskets lying around the area.

Jolly estimated the cost of the damage from the blaze to be around $15,000, primarily due to water damage caused by the hotel’s sprinkler system.

Guests were allowed to return to their rooms by 6:30 a.m.

In 1996, the unfinished structure of the Beach House hotel was destroyed in a suspicious fire that started in the building just days before the sprinkler system was installed. The fire completely wrecked the structure, causing $2.5 million in damages.

Investigators treated the fire as an arson case, which officially remains open to this day, although no suspect has ever been identified.

Maysville, NC – Sprinkler system activated for fire at recycling plant

Fire crews in Jones County spent around three hours putting out a fire at a facility off of US 17 Bypass in the area of Maysville.

The usage of Jones County Regional Water caused temporary low water pressure at some homes and businesses in the area.

Maysville Fire Department crews tell us that the fire happened at 11710 US-17S in Maysville, which is Green Recycling Solutions.

Crews tell us that a sprinkler system helped control the fire until the arrival of fire crews.

A cause has not been confirmed at this time.

North Liberty, IA – Sprinkler system activated for overnight fire at apartment complex

Emergency responders took two people to University of Iowa Health Care after a fire started in their apartment.

The city of North Liberty says firefighters responded to the fire at 1010 Rachel Street just before 4:30 a.m. Monday. Police who arrived on the scene first warned smoke was coming from the second floor of the building and a sprinkler system was working.

Firefighters broke their way in to find smoke in the living room, but the fire mostly out from the sprinklers.

Crews found two children in a bedroom and a dog inside the apartment and got them out.

There’s no word on the extent of injuries for those taken to the hospital.

Investigators are trying to determine how it started, and how much damage the fire caused.

The North Liberty Police Department, Coralville Fire Department, Johnson County Ambulance Service and Johnson County Emergency Communications Center all helped on the call.

Forest Hill, MD – Sprinkler system extinguishes fire at apartment complex

Yesterday morning, volunteer firefighters from the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company and additional support from surrounding companies responded to a reported apartment fire in the Forest Hill, Maryland neighborhood. According to a post shared by Harford Co., MD Fire & EMS on social media, the fire occurred in the 2000 block of Rock Spring Road. Thankfully, the fire was controlled and extinguished promptly due to the building’s fire sprinkler system.

This is the second fire of the day successfully controlled by sprinklers in the area. The Harford Co., MD Fire & EMS X account stated, “Fire sprinklers knocked down the fire,” emphasizing their importance in preventing damage and saving lives.

Details about the damage or injuries from the fire haven’t been released, but volunteer firefighters responded quickly, and the situation was under control. As more information becomes available, fire officials may share more about the cause of the fire and how well the response worked.

Folsom, CA – Sprinkler system activated for fire at hotel; No injuries reported

There’ll be extensive cleanup ahead for the Hampton Inn in Folsom after a fire sparked in a hotel room Sunday.

According to Folsom Fire Department, the fire started in a fourth floor hotel room.

While the fire was extinguished,  the sprinkler system left behind water damage in several rooms and floors. Fire officials ultimately described the damage as moderate and added that no one was injured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials said there’ll be “extensive clean up” due to the sprinkler system.

A front desk representative at the hotel said the water damage was minimal and the hotel got an OK from the fire department to let everyone back into their rooms. They said they don’t see the incident interrupting business.
